20 years after Breuer’s Begrisch Hall the basic idea is repeated as an egg-shaped version in Albany. It is part of the Empire State Plaza, which features a whole range of Brutalist buildings.

In use. The whole Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller Empire State Plaza has been determined eligible for the National Register of Historic Places (NR-eligible), but is not currently listed.
The building underwent extensive restoration in 2025–2026 at a cost of approximately $19.5 million. The project focused on repairing the concrete shell, upgrading technical systems and improving accessibility without altering the building’ original character (last updated on July 29, 2026).
