The 800 seat auditorium is part of a Waldorf School, based on the principles of anthroposophist Rudolf Steiner. The building is reminiscent of his Goetheanum from 1928 and follows his Expressionist, organic architectural concepts. It features a similarly complex, crystalline, exposed concrete aesthetic that tries to avoid right angles, which are considered “unorganic” in Steiner’s anthroposophic theory. The building recieved many awards: the "Hugo-Häring-Preis" in 1978 and the "Paul-Bonatz-Preis der Stadt Stuttgart" in 1979.
