Émile Aillaud: Cité Pablo Picasso, 1973C–1981

  • The Cité Pablo Picasso is a group of high-rise residential buildings in Nanterre, a suburb of Paris, near the La Défense business district – designed by French architect Emile Aillaud. Apart from their different heights, the buildings all have the same form, composed of several cylinders. The residential towers take their name from their mosaic frescos representing clouds in the sky.

  • Originally intended as a futuristic and exemplary architecture for housing estates in the suburbs of large cities, the residential area has developed into a social hotspot since the early 1980s.
