In 2010, the museum underwent several months of renovation work to remove numerous fixtures from previous years, so that the original walls of brown brick, white pebble and gray exposed concrete reappeared in the two early buildings. In March 2012, the museum was closed for several weeks due to acute defects in the ceiling panels from 1964 (last updated on September 26, 2024).
