The Building is located in the center of Ghent. It was originally built as an administration office and communication center (telephone and telex).

In 2014, the city of Ghent announced a competition for architects to design a residential tower on the site. In 2015, Coussee & Goris Architects were announced as the winner. The plan is to redevelop the brutalist building complex. The core of the tower will be preserved, but given a completely new façade with a glass shell. The rear of the tower with its characteristic façade, also known as the “bunker”, was demolished in 2020/2021. A smaller new building and a green zone with walking paths are to be created there.
This building was included in the red list, published in our exhibition catalog SOS Brutalism: A Global Survey (September 2017). After a status review on November 4, 2024, it was reclassified in the online database from red (endangered) to black (demolished).
