PROJECT DETAILS

Josep Lluís Sert: Law and Education Tower (Pappas Law Tower), Boston University, ?–1962

  • Boston, Massachusetts, USA, Show on map
  • #EDU #North America
  • The 18-floor tower was designed by Spanish architect Josep Lluís Sert as a cast in place concrete structure with precast infill panels. Known on Boston University campus as the Pappas Law Tower, the building holds an auditorium, classrooms, moot courtrooms, and faculty and administrative offices. (Special thanks to Olivia J. Kiers)

  • The building has recently undergone a university-led renovation that rehabilitates Sert's original tower, including replacing windows with thermally insulated units that reflect the original profile, restoring the red and green vent panels, and refurbishing the exterior concrete panels. The interior has been significantly modified for contemporary university administrative and classroom use. The renovation project won the Preservation Achievement Award of the Boston Preservation Alliance. (Special thanks to Olivia J. Kiers)
