Underground church in the pilgrimage town of Lourdes with an impressive prestressed concrete structure that forms a very large and shallow vault. The design is based on the shape of an inverted ship's hull. The interior was left in exposed concrete. The building can hold around 25,000 visitors.
After the church was completed in 1957, it was consecrated on March 25, 1958 to mark the centenary of the Marian apparitions in Lourdes.
