Lothar Kallmeyer: Zionskirche, 1967C–1969

  • Düsseldorf, Germany, Show on map
  • #REL #Monolith #Western Europe
  • The street-facing façade is actually the back side of the building. The church is oriented towards the inner courtyard and the adjacent civic center. The wavy façade points to the building’s significance while sealing off the interior from the outside. Instead of a bell tower the architect designed a concrete strut frame from which the bells are suspended in a case. Written by Sandra Pappe

  • Overpainted. In use.
