The Kurume Civic Center was composed of a series of interconnected volumes that expressed the different functions of the complex. The composition was unified by exposed concrete construction and a sculptural roofscape of folded and stepped forms, giving the building a highly dynamic silhouette. Deeply modelled façades, projecting concrete members and recessed glazing created a pronounced interplay of light and shadow.

Originally exposed concrete later painted. Demolished in 2017 (last updated on August 3, 2026).
