Heinz Wilke: Apartment and Office Building Uhlemeyerstraße, 1971?–1972

  • Hanover, Germany, Show on map
  • #COM #Western Europe
  • The building forms a strong contrast due to its dark material next to the light plastered buildings on the street. Dark steel glass balconies hang from a dark steel façade. Attached structural concrete elements are located on the area above the main entrance and on the top floor above the balconies. Steel bars are attached vertically to the façade between the balconies and divide it into 6 sections. In front of the building there are small green areas, separated from the pedestrian walkway by small concrete walls, thus resuming the design of the façade curtain wall.

  • In use. Originally, the building hosted the British Consulate General Hanover. Today, it contains law offices.

    Heritage protected since 2018.
