The Edifício Caleidoscópio in Lisbon is an exposed concrete building that measures 2.700m². The groundplan has a honeycombed structure, while the ceilings are following the structure of a–just as the building’s name is saying–kaleidoscope.
Originally, the building was planned and built for the use as public tourist center, for events and commercial stores.

Due to intern organizational change, the building was modified through the years including a distortion of the hexagonal geometry. The Edifício Caleidoscópio was abondened from about 2010 until six years later: After a long period of fighting against demolition discussions, the building received careful refurbishments and opened again in 2016. It is now an academic center of the Univeristy of Lisbon, includes a 24h library and also a McDonalds which financed the renovation works with 2 million Euros.
