The project of the central building of the Polytechnic University in Bucharest was led by arh. Octav Doicescu (1902-1981). Doicescu was among the few members of the vibrant inter-war modernist architectural community who continued to be active in the city after the Second War and whose projects still stand. His modernist vision can be still felt in the socialist modernism of this building: the long lines and rounded elements in the façade are slightly dissonant from buildings of the time. The building was the center of a much large planning project for the entire campus of the university.
