The institute was built in 1967 according to the plans of architect Bernhard Dirksmeier (Münster). It consists of several parts. The main building is a square tower building. Further research buildings are grouped around a lively inner courtyard. This space features artworks by Julius Viertmann (1967) and Franz Rudolf Knubel (Tuber ABL / 68, 1968/69). The building is now to be demolished. According to the city of Münster, a modern residential quarter with affordable living space for people of all ages and life situations is to be built on the site of the former North Rhine-Westphalia Health Center on Von-Stauffenberg-Straße. The concept for this was preceded by an architectural competition (last updated on April 25, 2024).
