This is a typical example of 1970s school buildings in Germany. In a large complex of one- to three-storey units different school types are gathered together in one spot on about 32,800 m2 floor space. The facade is structured horizontally with glass and exposed concrete, which is accentuated by colored shapes. In the yard there is a covered footpath made of mushroom-shaped exposed concrete elements. Written by Torsten Ahlers

According to the city of Coesfeld, all renovation measures will be planned and carried out in consultation with the heritage office and the façades in particular will be restored in line with heritage requirements. “After the renovation, the building,” according to the city, ”should continue to present itself in the style typical of its construction period and retain important design elements on the windows, façades and exterior design.” It remains to be seen what the result of the renovation will look like when it is completed.
The budget for the project is around 64.5 million euros. Completion is scheduled for the end of 2026 (last updated on December 13, 2024).
