Fehling+Gogel: St. Norbert Church, 1958D–1962

  • Berlin, Germany, Show on map
  • #REL #Western Europe
  • Previously, a church by the architect Carl Kühn built between 1913 and 1918 stood on this site. After its destruction during the Second World War, only a ruin remained. In 1958, the architects Hermann Fehling, Daniel Gogel and Peter Pfankuch integrated it into a new church in modernist style. The existing church hall was modernized and supplemented with new buildings. These include a baptistery, a kindergarten, the parish administration and an entrance hall. A new organ loft was added inside the church hall.

A new closed street front covered with coarse sprayed plaster replaces the demolished double tower façade. In its design, a kink has been incorporated as a design feature, which was already present in the church building by Kühn. The new church tower is located next to the nave.

  • In use. Heritage protected since 1995 (last updated on May 7, 2024).
