The semicircular monumental apartment block in Neukölln is the original house type of Gropiusstadt.  With its 18 storeys and 500 apartments, it reflects the feeling of the time, the mass construction of apartments. Whole blocks of flats were set back others come out. Vertical rows of semi-circular balconies remind of spiral staircases that spiral up into the sky. The grey concrete block was discreetly decorated with yellow painted surfaces (balconies). The special thing about the Gropius House is that even on the narrow sides there are balconies and windows.
