In need of renovation. Discussions about a conversion in 2009, which envisaged the demolition of the top five floors and a complete redesign of the façade, were abandoned due to a lack of funds. In 2022, however, another architectural competition was held to renovate the building, which was won by Giesler Architekten from Brunswick. Their design envisages, once again, replacing the façade of the reinforced concrete skeleton building with a glass façade. Partial demolitions are also planned: For example, a civic hall is to be installed on the second floor, which will create spacious public areas by demolishing the floor slab between the second and third floors. A “city balcony” is also to be created by partially demolishing the upper floors. The planned intervention will completely change the original design of the architecture (last updated on January 24, 2025).
