In Caracas Donald E. Hatch left an extense work which remains standing in multiple cases.
According to the organization CCS City 450, Torre El Chorro (also known as Torre Boulton) was his last project ever designed and built in Caracas. It included two magnificent sculptures designed by the famous venezuelan artist Jesús Soto in the Lobby. Its calculations were made by the Ingeneer Henry Degenkolp following the seismic criteria of San Francisco. It was inaugurated in 1975. -
Since 2010, the Venezuelan government converted a section of the tower as a refugee accommodation. The rest of the building ran with the same fate through time. Internal instalations have been damaged, clean and dirty waters have mixed, internal sanitary conditions are deficient, and objects are thrown from the windows (last updated on June 11, 2019).
Special thanks to Rodrigo CaprilesThe Torre El Chorro is currently home to the Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina. Other information on the current condition is unclear (last updated on February 12, 2025).
