Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Caracas used to be one of the most influential museums in Latin America. It holds one of the very few complete collections of Picasso's Suite Vollard prints in the world. It also collects important pieces of local and international art of the post Second World War period. For this museum, Nikolajs Sidorkovs was awarded the National Prize of Recycled Architecture, since it reused existing buildings for its growth. There is a myth that the museum grew up over parking spaces, which has been denied by the architect. He started from the art gallery that was already built, designed by the architect Tomás Lugo which reflects that Parque Central always had contemplated cultural spaces. He also recycled a restaurant which served as a meeting point for executives. The former restaurant area became an exhibition hall which values the nice view of the city from that window.
Furthermore, the museum has gardens which also include art, for example the sculpture "Jubileum IV" by the artist Lynn Chadwick.
