The shopping center „Central” in Łódź was designed in 1961. It was an architectural competition entry created by the architects Maciej Gintowt, Ewa Krasińska, Maciej Krasiński and the structural engineer Wacław Zalewski. The construction work was finally completed in 1972.

The 3 storey high shopping center is accompanied by an 11-floor-high office building. Both were designed as simple volumes with ribbon windows and external walls covered with prefab washed-concrete panels. In 1974 „Central” was awarded by the Minister of Construction.

In use. In 2000s, the shopping center was thermoinsulated and plastered. The office building is preserved in its original shape, yet it remains unused.
