Only a few meters from St. Norbert, designed by the same architects, stands the Paul-Gerhardt Church. Slightly set back, the tent-like concrete building lies next to the village church of Schöneberg. The sharp tower of the church rises from an irregular volume reminiscent of stacked triangles and is characterized by massive, rough plastered steel and exposed concrete walls. The interior is provided with daylight by two triangular windows, a coloured glass skylight and a glass surface which connects the small cemetery with the church.
The church is oriented towards music, Fehling was a student of the architect Scharoun and adapted the principles which the philharmonic follows: concentrically arranged rows of seats, different levels, galleries. From 1965 to 1966 they built another building on behalf of the Berlin congregation of Alt-Schöneberg. The building, formerly known as the "Superintendentur", now houses apartments, parish offices, kindergarten and the deaconry. The elongated building juts out like a rugged mountain range.
