In 1970 the new municipal library in Sindelfingen was opened. Following the example of city libraries in Scandinavia, England and America, various innovative elements were implemented in this library building, including a music library, a skylight gallery, a lecture hall and a roof garden. The fact that two additional reading rooms were added made it possible that there was also enough space for author readings, exhibitions and library concerts.
The reinforced concrete building is characterised by a massive attic, concrete columns support the roof and attach narrow concrete balconies to the façade. The glass façade is supported by a post and mullion construction and contrasts with closed concrete façade elements. -
Structural and technical renovation were planned.
