PROJECT DETAILS

Pino Pizzigoni: Parrocchia di Longuelo, 1966

  • Bergamo, Italy, Show on map
  • #REL #Western Europe
  • Sculptural church building. The entire structure is made of exposed concrete and consists of a series of thin, 5 cm thick vaults, supported by struts and tie rods, also in reinforced concrete.

  • In use.

Since many years, the construction suffered from numerous defects: cracks in the concrete, penetrating humidity, iron corrision, deposits on the external surfaces. Even a first renovation of the church in the 1980s was not sustainably successful in fixing such problems. Due to that, the church was elaborately renovated and maintained again from 2011 until 2014 by Paolo Belloni (PBEB Architetti).
