Günter Bock: Protestant Community Center "Arche" (today: Kinder-Arche), 1963?–1973

In the midst of the row-like, partly towering residential buildings of Sindlingen, the one- to two-story complex of the former community center recedes. An ensemble with projecting and receding floors, balconies and window elements is composed of cuboid elements. Under a projecting structural element, the glazed main portal breaks through the high-enclosed northwest façade. The building's artistic appeal lies in its elaborately crafted concrete-plastic cladding structure, in which the surface of the façade is stamped horizontally with imprints. In terms of urban development, the former community center is now on the periphery, but in terms of urban history it stands for the awakening of the local Protestant church community in that area.Â

Heritage protected since 2000. Today, the building is sand-colored and converted into a kindergarten (last updated on March 13, 2024).Â
