  • The educational institution, which has existed in Schwabach since the middle of the 19th century, moved under its present name "Wolfram von Eschenbach Gymnasium" from a massive sandstone building to the new Brutalist school by Bernhard Heid in 1977. It is a four-part building complex with different floor heights that consists of two longitudinal blocks with a low annex to the west including attached music rooms, and a gym hall with shed roof in the southeast. The walls of the exposed concrete construction show the imprints of the wooden formwork, and the shape is characterized by chamfered corners. The walls of the lower floors of the classroom blocks are interrupted by openings supported by reinforced concrete columns. These areas cover stairs leading into the building. The exterior appearance of the building is dominated by the concrete's gray which is contrasted by window and door frames in shades of yellow, orange and red.

In addition, a janitor residence of the same architect is located on the site: a single-storey exposed concrete building with flat roof.

  • Heritage protected.

Due to increased student numbers, the building was expanded in 2006 to include a cafeteria building with additional classrooms (last updated on September 27, 2024).
