The development of Lahnstein as a town in 1969 is architecturally documented by this building. The “Stadthalle Lahnstein” is the result of an architectural competition for a new conference, congress and event center for the still young town, in which the design by architects Jürgen Jüchser and Peter Ressel from Planungsring Wiesbaden was selected. They realized a contemporary exposed concrete building, enlivened by slopes, with spacious hall combinations, which stands opposite the medieval witches’ tower on Salhofplatz and adjoins the old city wall. The town hall was constructed using untreated precast concrete elements and in-situ concrete and is visually characterized by the use of White Portland cement. The elongated main façade is structured by horizontal bands of windows, the arrangement of which makes reference to the adjacent historical buildings. It is also dominated by a concrete relief in primary colors by the artist Otto Herbert Hajek, who is responsible for the design of the equally lively interior as well.

Heritage protected since 2007. Of particular importance due to its historical value and high-quality artistic design.
Over time, the white concrete of the largely unchanged building had partially turned gray-black and the colorful relief had faded. This was remedied during a careful renovation from 2015 to 2018 (last updated on March 3, 2024).
