Unknown architect: Elementary School (Fuchsrainschule), 1973C–1974

  • The Fuchsrain School complex extends over five levels on a south-facing slope in Stuttgart's Gablenberg neighbourhood. The roof of the gym forms part of the school playground in front of it. The two-storey central building is adjoined by flat foyer and pavilion buildings; the façades are structured by window and concrete bands. The janitorer's flat in front is connected to the main building by open canopies (pergolas).

In the landscaped schoolyard area, concrete walls support the various levels, while the geometric-abstract artwork "Edelstahlstehle" (1973) by artist Ursula Stock decorates the entrance area of the school.

  • The remodelling of the school has been under discussion since 2012 (last updated on July 4, 2024).
